I just found out that my Powercolor 7770 does not have a bridge connector. It's weird cuz the box says it supports Crossfire.

I read somewhere that someone was able to run crossfire a 7770 and a 7750 without a bridge 100% working.

Assuming i run dual 7770, both in X16 lanes, would it work?

More about : crossfire 7770 crossfire bridge

Technically a bridge isn't required in any multi card setup, but it takes load off of the PCI lanes allowing full bandwidth from the GPUs to the CPU.

Yes, you need it.

Two 7770 need croffire accordign AMD, but 7750 don't.

Maybe it would still work without the bridge but will surely take a servere hit in performance due the bandwith.

Yes i agree with you! The bridge would help.

Depends on the card really. A 7770 isn't the strongest card, and thus the extra bandwidth can probably easily pass over the PCIe lanes. The only thing I am not certain about is whether the software will ACTUALLY detect it as a second card, meaning whether Catalyst will actually detect a second card plugged into the system.

crossfire should work without taking a huge hit from no bridge, if you were to buy a second 7770 for an extra $25 you can get a radeon 7850 2gb on newegg without having to worry about it not working well, hell for $210 you can even get a 7950.

Apparently, Catalyst 13.1 allowed enabling Crossfire without the bridge.

From personal experience, though, it runs a lot better with the bridge. The more recent versions of Catalyst won't allow it without the bridge.

I haven't tried 13.1, if that's what you are asking. However, 13.4, 13.8, and 13.10 will not activate Crossfire without the bridge installed. I have two 7770's Crossfired right now.

Are you using a bridge? Could you try testing it without the bridge? It's okay if you can't.

Yes, I am using a bridge. I have tried 13.4, 13.8, and 13.10 without the bridge, and like I said previously, the drivers will not activate Crossfire without the bridge installed. Sorry, but I am not willing to roll back the drivers to 13.1 just to try it out.
