Hi all, been loving this forum and really appreciate people who help others with their vast knowledge and experience.

I am building my 2nd gaming system and need help selecting a quality PSU (Corsair, Seasonic etc) I am stuck on which wattage to get.

I will be building/upgarding in future to roughly these specs:

CPU: AMD FX-8350 Eight-Core 4GHz Socket AM3+
Mobo: Asus Crosshair V formula Z
GPU: 2 X ASUS GTX780
RAM: 32GB Corsair Vengeance pro 1600mhz (I might stick with 16)
SSD: Corsair 240GB Force GT Series 3 SSD
HDD: Couple 1 TB drives
Soundcard: Asus ROG Xonar Phoebus
Fans: Noctua DH-14 Cpu cooler, 4 X Corsair Air Series AF120 Quiet Edtiion and 2 X Corsair Air Series AF140 Quiet Edtiion.

Will 850W suffice or should I go with 1000W? When i looked at the PSU wattage calculators they said 1300W?!? That cant be right.

Solution
well 1 gtx 780 can pull around 350w on full power if you got 2 thats 700w around 150w for an overclocked 8350 bringing you to 850w plus all your other parts, thats of course assuming 100% power draw which should not really happen so you may get away with a lower watt psu of good quality, its just my opinion your building an expensive machine why try save on an important component like the psu id rather drop one of the 780's and get the right psu and save for a 780 when they drop in price its just an opinion

850W is enough for 2way sli, it shoudl be no problem at all, corsair, seasonic and antec are all tier 1 PSU's that should have no problem sustaining tha tbuild.

2 780's will be 700w alone then around 5w-6w a fan so nearly 50w an overclocked fx 9370 maybe 250w an ssd and a few hdds a soundcard i would at least go 1200w minimum especially if the calculators say 1300w they may be factoring in capacitor aging

Well said! I am not buying second 780 now anyway. Will get it at the end of the year. Thanks for your time. Will buy Seasonic 1000W Platinum.
