sli evga gtx 670 sc 4gb vs 1 evga gtx 780 ftw acx 3gb?

hello i currently own 2 of the evga gtx 670 sc 4gb cards i was wandering if it would be worth selling them to buy a single evga gtx 780 duel ftw acx 3gb card then later in the future buy a 2nd for sli I would probably have to throw some extra money which i don't mind only given that the performance increase would be significant i run 3x 24" 1920x1080 monitors in surround as well with a total resolution of 5760x1080.

Given the additional info, I'd stick with the SLI at this point. The pair of 670's will outperform the single 780 and the additional memory will really help your surround. Your plan for w/c will certainly keep temps down and providing the extra slot spacing is also good.

In the future, when the 8xxx or 9xxx cards come out, it might be time to rethink, but that's 2-3 years out. Go for the SLI.

That's really a multi-edged question. The 670 SLI will run faster than the single 780, but then you have to deal with heat issues. In sli, I think you could expect the top card to run ~15* hotter, and the sli adds significant heat to the case. On the other hand, you already have the pair of 670's, so you're not out any additonal funds except for possibly a larger case and additional fans (or water cooling).

The 4gb of the 670's will help in surround, but the 3gb on the 780 will also suffice. SLI of 780's will obviously be the fastest, but again you run into cooling issues.

I have always been a proponent of buying the best SINGLE card solution you can afford, however, in your case I think I would stay with the 670's and work on a case/fan setup that moves significant air over the cards and out of the case.

If you bough a single gtx 780, you will be downgrading the performance. As mark said, if you want cooler temperatures or quiter computer than the single card would be better. I think you should hold up with this setup (which is a BEAST) until the 8xx series or 8xxx series are released, maybe they will have some expensive card which are worth the upgrade and money.

Hi mate thanks for the detailed reply. With the cooling i have a haf x with bitfenix spectre pro fans so airflow isn't an issue and I picked a mb that has a extra slot between the g/c's so that the top card can get the air it needs I'm also planning on putting both the 670's in thier own custom w/c loop thats why I'm asking that question because I want ti get tge loop setup really soon

cheers mate ill keep the 670's and w/c both then overclock them to a decent level that should improve frame rates i play games like crysis 3, far cary 3, bf3 and others as well ill also be getting bf4 and gta5 when they come out.
i like to play my games at decent settings mostly high and ultra and try aim for fps of around 45+ most games will do 60+ easy but just fc3 c3 and MLL i have turn the settings down a little.
but another thing I've noticed is the lack of support in games for eyefinity/surround settups kinda dissapoints me somewhat lol
