I'm going to get into PC gaming ('cause it's superior to anything else) and I don't have much knowledge of this stuff but I did some research and picked the following parts for my rig. I'd like you guys to tell me if the parts are okay and what changes I should do and that kind of stuff. And do I need that good mobo? I read somewhere that if you're not going to overclock, you don't need so good mobo. Thanks!

CPU: Intel Core i5 3470 Ivy Bridge 3.2GHz
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX760 2GB DDR5 Rev. 2.0
MOTHERBOARD: ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 Sockel 1155 ATX
MEMORY:8GB Corsair Vengeance LP Black DDR3-1600 DIMM CL9 Dual Kit
HDD:Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200U/min, SATA3, 3.5"
FAN: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
Case: Corsair Carbide 200R
DVD drive: Samsung SH-224BB
Power supply: OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W

Yes you are right about overclocking. Id say Ivy is bit old so get Hasswell build. Lga 1150 is new. For cheap price you get from gigabyte this mobo. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-gab85hd3

And then you pick up here best cpu (the expensive ones are usually faster)
http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/cpu/#sort=a6

But if you do not mind to stick with 1155 build then I have solution for you. B-75 mobo + intel xeon 1230V2 That is like i7 for a price i5
This is good combo if you do not mind to use mATX mobo.
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1230 V2 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor ($224.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H Micro ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($69.24 @ Amazon)
Total: $294.22
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

So is it fine if I get Intel Core i5 4670 CPU and MSI B75A-G43 ATX LGA1155 mobo with it?

And are the other parts fine with those?

Also I have read that Geforce GTX GPUs are better than AMD Radeons. Is it true or would it be wiser to buy one of the Radeon GPUs since they are cheaper. If so, what would be as good as the Gigabyte's GTX 760?

Yes it is OK but not best choice. Best choise is that intel xeon 1230V2

Yes. If you put in 20$ more to mobo you get better.

I think both can do the job. I maybe like more GTX but other side is better with multi monitors. And OC it other thing. Best thing is get video card that is fast enough for your needs. 7950 and 7970 are about same level cards that 760 depending a game.
Maybe best look 3 gameresults what you like best and look how card do the job.
Not so much difference with 1080p resolution. I like Nvidia GTX because It works for me better for me video and photo editing.

I'm definitely going to get the Intel Xeon 1230 V2 since it seems to be a lot better than the i5 4670!

With that I will get the GTX 760 but I'm concerned about the mobo you suggested because it doesn't have SLI support and I will probably go SLI at some point when the single GTX 760 is not enough. So what would be the best and the cheapest mobo that supports SLI with this setup?

One more question! Can I run BF3 in ultra with that graphic card and processor? That would be nice.

Thanks for the answers! You have really helped me a lot!!

My suggestin is maybe cheapest but it solid good. Gigabyte X-D3H
It is good for sli and have sata pots and usb ports lot. Good VRM components too.

Yes. BF 3 runs like this with 760
http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/geforce_gtx_760_review,15.html

Since xeo nis faster than 3570 or 3470 you maybe get couple more fps there too :)
Vs your original build.

I couldn't find anything when I searched for that mobo?

Gigabyte GA-Z77M-D3H Socket 1155 M-ATX seems to be fairly cheap and it has sli so would that be good?

You can't overclock a Xeon so it's not necessary to purchase a huge cooler. You also just plain do not need it for a gaming rig, I don't know how many times I have to point this out.

We konow this better than you so plz leave us alone. We know that xeon works better than other locked cpu. And you do not. Try it. You may like it after all.
All that have tryed it have been positely supriced how well it works.
So did yo uhave anything usefull to say in this tread?

I know I'm losing this battle, and like an idiot I keep coming back for more. I have been doing a bit of research into the Xeon E3, it's applications for a gaming rig, and of course the problem lies with the ECC RAM - the biggest difference between the i5 and i7, and the Xeon is the RAM speeds. An Intel Xeon will only handle RAM up to 1333 MHz, where an i5 and i7 will handle RAM speeds up to DDR3 2400 Mhz. On a desktop or gaming environment, ECC RAM is pretty useless. On a server or other environments where you will use lots of scalable systems and database applications it can do wonders. I would suggest reading this as to what it says about ECC RAM: http://www.tomsitpro.com/articles/xeon-e3-c206-workstation,2-191-2.html

All memory works just fine with xeon. It depends more mobo than cpu.
You did say here that intel chip lose warranty if you use faster than 1600MHz memory.
Now I know this one dude that did xeon build and he did OC 1333MHz memory to 1600MHz and it do work fine. xeon just supports ECC memory. It do NOT need one.
Regular 1333/ 1600MHz memory works just fine.

Look this build: http://www.silentrig.com/product/3542/tonnin-pelikone--la-silent-rig-nfoc-92013

What are components there? This in Finland but sure you notice what components there are? :D

That is true that Intel chips lose their warranty if you run above a certain speed. But Intel also voids your warranty if you do even the most minor overclocking such as changing the CPU's multiplier. That does come off as a bit hypocritical so take that for what it's worth.

It is not tru anymore. Memory can be any that motherboard will work with.
Ask from intel if you do not beleve me :) They can not avoid your warranty if motherboard supports faster memory.
Foe example look this. http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/gaming/gaming-computers/intel-extreme-memory-profile-xmp.html

Oh yeah. There it was :
