Hi All,

I'm having a networking problem. I recently upgraded my Time Warner service from 3Mbps to 15Mbps, and some how when I have two laptops actively using the internet (email, surfing, and gaming) the internet gets very slow. This wasn't a problem when I had just 3Mbps and the two laptops were active (which i thought was amazing).

Now I'm curious why this is happening. Is it my router? I'm currently using a basic D-Link N150 because my apartment is quite small. Would getting a dual band router do the trick? I'm not too concerned that the low 5Ghz reach because the apartment is small.

Thank you so much in advance

That's 19.5 Mbps in total there. Looks like you were getting more than your advertised speed. No you don't need a dualband router. I don't see a problem here.

I did the speedtest first thing when I upgraded to confirm I was getting the speed I was promised. Speedtest said I was getting about 14.5-15Mbps

Just tried this: Streaming Netflix on Roku, with two laptops running. First laptop was getting 10.5Mbps and the second was getting 9Mbps. Do I need a dualband router?
