Shift keys are stuck down

I was on my pc today and i noticed that programs were starting to act strangely
after checking a few things
i found that the problem was in that apparently both my shift keys were stuck down in the on screen keyboard
even after unplugging my keyboard the keys remain pressed
nothing i have found is helping

Believe it or not, this worked for me on my Logitech wireless keyboard too. I pressed the left shift key twice, the right shift key twice, then turned off the keyboard and back on. Everything was fixed after that. This may work on any keyboard attached to the computer but I'm not sure. I would suggest that others who are having this problem try that too. Thanks niks11!

Tried fiddling around with some keyboard settings before finding this and nothing else seemed to work. Thanks for fixing my problem :)

Worked liked a charm.. It was a life saver.. I was not able to login because of the shift key problem.. I clicked the shift keys twice and sleep+wake up,System is back. Thanks again !!!
