Hey man, you can't upgrade that system's memory to DDR3. DDR2 modules may have the same amount of pins, but the memory controller of the processor doesn't support ddr3, nor would the motherboard sockets for the ram fit. With a computer that old, you really need to just bite...

Hey man, you can't upgrade that system's memory to DDR3. DDR2 modules may have the same amount of pins, but the memory controller of the processor doesn't support ddr3, nor would the motherboard sockets for the ram fit. With a computer that old, you really need to just bite the bullet and get a new system. A $300 cheap storebought set would be better than that. if you are adamant you must upgrade the memory of that set, you can, at most, get a 4gb kit (2x 4gb modules) of ddr2 (pc2-6400). a trusty brand like corsair or crucial or g.skill would work.
