Is the phenom II x4 965 black edition good for gaming?

Sorry I made a thread just an hour ago but I forgot to ask how this processor does with games

Can it handle something like World of Warcraft? Most of the games I play are near or below warcrafts graphics so I like to use it as a refrence.

And does it have a chance of playing a game like assassins creed 3

  1. it is somehow...it also depends on your GPU..
on a general note...getting some FX series (probably 6300 or series FX 8***) is advisable.
  2. My GPU is the radeon 7850 so I figured they'd work together well sine they're both AMD

i will search up the other ones you listed right now
  3. I am in agreeance with the above comment.
fx 8350. and even a low priced graphics card will have you running lovely in WoW when I played wow. ( quit two months ago) I ran on ultra settings at about 45fps on a shitty $30 card.

While that CPU you are asking about MIGHT handle it. you are better off spending the little bit extra for an 8350 build.
    call it future proof.
And I say future proof because it is going to be a long time before games and software are going to require more than 8 cores and higher than 4.0ghz. and on some good cooling the 8350 can hit 5.0 although most who OC the 8350 keep it at around 4.8

it does'nt work that way.. you can pair an AMD CPU with nvidia GPU and vice versa..
  5. Damn it's like 200 dollars, the phenom is only 85 ):

Is there a cheaper version of this fx processor? One that is stronger than the phenom but cheaper than 200$?

I feel very dumb for some reason
  6. My son has the 955 Black and a 460 and he plays everything high settings 1080 so yes it will do you fine. It is getting a little old but will not hold you back yet.

    Thent
  7. There are versions of the FX series that are lower in price.
the fx 6300 is a 6 core at $120 the fx 4130 is a quad core at 110. both have pretty high ghz right out of the box.
the fx 4100 is a $100 quad core at 3.6 out of the box.
