if you want a monster, go for something like a GTX 690, but thats 600-700 dollars. you can't get a monster for 500 but you'll pretty much get a flawless performance, something like a gtx 770 would go for you, and it can handle next gen games pretty well.

If you can get a 780 it is very good (but expensive).
I guess a 770 will be very nice already for your budget.

I'm from Australia also.

check out www.umart.com.au
they have stores in most states as well as decent pricing.

should get yourself a GTX 770 for that money.

Id suggest a Gigabyte Windforce or MSI N770 Gaming ....both are clocked at 1137 MHz outta the box.

If the purpose is gaming and as you said "smash games", go for the 770, the 760 is a bit weak to play in very high settings.

When you move to several monitors by then you can add another 770 in SLI, I think it is the best option for you.

The 760 is cheaper though, but in price/performance the best will be 770.

AN EVGA GTX 770 SC. Prices around 410$ in the US.

It has good cooling solution and its factory overclocked and good for the buck.

If not. Go Gigabyte. aside from their windforce cooling. It is has higher boost clocks than the cards out there (Except MSI Lightning). And higher stock clock out of the box

MSI and Gigabyte have same clock speed outta the box.....also both have great coolers, custom PCB and beefed up VRM .... EVGA SC series has great cooler, but stock PCB and VRM
