I've already got 8g ram, Hyper 212 Evo CPU cooler, 650w PSU and case. But i'm looking for the last final components, i would like to be able to play BF4 at an average of 100FPS with most settings turned down. What should i be looking for with a budget of around $1000?

If you need anymore information please let me know.

CDBurner is absolutely correct about not having to spend 1,000 for a great experience and results, but if you want to have the highest performance you can possible get with that 1k, you should get an i5-4670k (230), and Asus Z87-K (115), and a gtx 780 (650).

Well I don't know how taxing BF4 will be, you could go with: i7 4770k ($330), 7970Ghz ($375), and (for example) ASUS MAXIMUS VI HERO ($200)
If you wanted to save money you could swap to i5 4670k ($240) and/or go with a cheaper mobo (probably down to no less than $100)

Other graphics options would be GTX 770 ($400), GTX 780 ($650), 7970 ($300)

My philosophy is, you don't necessarily need to spend your whole budget just because you have it, so if you wanted you could save~200 for a future upgrade

Edit: I just noticed you said 100fps on med settings (I really need to pay better attention). So if you are looking for high framerate with reduced visuals, then i5 4670k (or even i5 4430($190)) and a 760/gtx 760($250) with a $100 mobo would probably do you fine

All of this is just my opinion, it would probably be a good idea to look at charts/benchmarks before making a final decision.

Best of luck!

Hi there,

With this kind of money you can afford to go for a setup that will basically play most if not all games on max settings very comfortably. However, i dont know about the 100fps, this is usually reserved for SLI and Crossfire setups. You are limiting yourself because you have a 650 watt PSU. I would upgrade that to 800 or so to be able to add and upgrade more components in the future. As for the parts look for a GTX 770 as they are the best price to performance cards out atm. The only reason i suggest Nvidia cards to people is that your not just paying for the card you are paying for a lot of their very good softwares as well. Games like BF4 are usually made to be more compliant with Nvidia cards and software. Not to knock AMD cards. For the CPU go for an intel i5 4670k, again best price to performance and you dont need to go for higher cores and i7's as all games out atm dont utilise more than 4 cores anyway. As for the motherboard. Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD4H Or GA-Z87X-UD5H are very great boards and are my most trusted brand for motherboards. they are around $150-220. If you want to go for say a red and black colour scheme then the MSI Z87-G4H is really cool looking but doesn't necessarily offer as much as the Gigabyte boards.

These are my picks. You should really look around for things you want. You may want a card that has more HDMI ports etc. Or a motherboard that has less USB ports and more Firewire ports etc. Its completely up to you what you want.

Things to remember is that if you go with the new line of intel processors (Haswell i* 4****) Then you will need a motherboard that supports socket LGA 1150. If you go amd pay special attention to the socket type of the CPU and pick a board that matches that socket. All graphics cards should go with all new motherboards. If in doubt check that the graphics card is PCIE 3.0 compatible.

Good luck!

Thank you for your help, at the moment i'm probably going to purchase a i5 4670K & a GTX 770 since you said price / performance so i'll take your advice. But still deciding on a motherboard.
