Hi,
Here is my situation:

PC a: XP SATA 200gb HDD,
PC b has IDE HDD XP installed, no SATA provision.

PC a died (not HDD) so trying to get SATA disk into PC b to get data off it. Have installed PCI SATA card in PC b & got power to the 200gb drive.

PC b won't boot - OS boot conflict? Looked in BIOS but unable to make a difference from there. Tried to select in boot order but no joy.

Has anyone got any pointers or advice.
TIA
J

Solution
Its a bit hard to know where to start.

If you can get into the bios what boot devices are Listed.
Is the 200Gb present in the boot order. Or picked up by the bios.

Thanks for replying,
The BIOS boot list , under "hard disks" shows the add-on card & I had disabled this.
The boot process had seemed to hang at a blank black screen.
However, during my tweaking this morning I checked & rechecked then got on with picking up a boxful of spilled screws - lo & behold, the thing had booted to XP. SO I restarted, and the process takes about 10-15 minutes to successfully boot.

I had forgotten that I had an interminable boot with this machine a few years ago & I can't remember how I resolved it... Hopefully when I've got the data off the SATA disk & removed it, it'll go back to behaving itself.
Cheers
