Specs are
i7 4770k
Asus gtx 770
1tb HDD old hard drive from last computer with all my files and it was on amd
16gb corsair dominator platinum 1866

I just put in my old harddrive with a lot of new z87 stuff and I can't get a normal boot up either blue screen or startup repair

Solution
Erm.. u better get another HDD for it..
Or u can try to boot Ubuntu OS from usb and copy the file u wanted from the HDD , then do a format for the OS installation.
If u going to build a new setup with new MOBO, I would like to recommended u do a clean install of the OS , it will be more stable and compatible with your current setup.
The Old OS cant boot probably due to chipset and others Drivers from the old setup cause it ~

Make sure all power connectors are connected (inc GFX card, etc). Try running at stock for first boot (if you aren't already). Try with just one memory module, then the other. Try booting to Memtest CD before running windows to sure your RAM isn't faulty.

(BTW, many people find it normal to need to reinstall windows after a big platform change, especially if you didn't remove all your old drivers before changing hardware).

So using my old drive to boot up won't work because I have different set drivers? I've never built a PC and everything is correctly plugged in but I have 1866 ram set to stock 1333 but what your saying is go buy new HDD and OS for clean install? How do I just run everything off old one cuz I have games and big flies on it and thank you all so much for help

Your old drive will probably work (hardware), you just may need to reinstall Windows to get it to work as you've probably got all your old AMD drivers on their still which Windows is loading only to find the AMD hardware is no longer there. It's normal practise to reinstall Windows when you change motherboards with a significant generational gap.

You don't need to buy a new HDD to do a clean OS, you just need to backup all your old data, and reformat / reinstall Windows / your apps / games, etc, and put your data back on (with your new Intel chipset, etc, drivers).

You can try. Try loading it in "Safe Mode", and then remove all the old AMD drivers first. Then reboot, install the new Intel chipset & SATA drivers, and see if it keeps BSOD:-

So I tried to get safe mode and it Just tried to boot normally and I got blue screen so I guess I'm just gonna try and find someone with windows 7-8 and buy another HDD and clean install and OC ram to its potentional 1866... Does that sound easier?
