Greetings, I am farely new to building and changing/replacing computer hardware, so I need some help. I have the Asus p7h55-m pro s1156/pcie/v1748/s/gl motherboard and I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card from Radeon HD 6850 to 7970, mostly for some next gen games, but I don't know how to check if it's compatible with the mentioned motherboard.

Also i've heard that the HD 7970 is a pretty big component and needs a bigger case. Would my cooler master HAF 912 be big enough? pic: http://www.legitreviews.com/images/reviews/1406/haf912_plus.jpg

Any help would be apreciated

Solution
Yes, you will just be able to fit in the 7970 in your HAF 912 case. The GPU itself is 10.6 inches long and without removing the HDD cage, you have exactly 10.6 inches of space. If it somehow does not fit, just remove the Hard Disk Drive Cage.
As for compatibility with the motherboard, there will be no issue.
The only problem that might occur is that you do not have a strong enough power supply. The 7970 takes up just up to 50W more power than the 6850 on full load, so if you have a 600W+ power supply you should be good.
