Hi Everyone,

I upgraded my rig last year but I kept my old graphics card - partly because I couldn't afford to upgrade, and partly because it can still run all the most up to date releases (albeit on lower settings).

I'm now looking to upgrade and trying to decide on what new GPU to buy, and to be honest I'm a bit lost.

My budget is up to $130 (100eu), so whats the best I can get for my money? Suggestions please!

My current setup is:

hdd - OCZ 64gb SSD
Mobo - asus p8z68-v pro/gen3
CPU - intel i5-3570k
Ram - 8gb Corsair vengeance1600mhz (2x4gb) DDR3
PSU 650w Corsair (from old build)
GPU - Geforce gtx 260 (want to replace)

More about : upgrading graphics card 130 advice

Save the money for a GTX 760 or a Radeon 7950 they are dropping in price rapidly, you might want to wait a month save that money and get it sooner then you would expect.

i personally think anything lower then that is not so good.

If you REALLY want to get one for 100 euros...let me know.

@DragonChase @kurifox Thanks for the quick response guys. To be honest it depends how much they drop in cost - If I spend 250 on a graphics card now my wife will kill me, I think probably my absolute maximum would be around 180. Out of interest, what would you say is better to buy, the GTX 760 or a Radeon 7950?

760, if you like overclocking a gtx 760 but i would never regret having either of them.

Does not matter much, but the 7950 should be a couple of euros cheaper and has 3gb Ram which is highly preffered by me when going multi screen.

I found the 760 today for 210 euros i believe.

Thanks Dude. It's not exactly my preferred website, but I have 50eu Credit at Amazon.de which is where I was looking. I'm living in Germany right now and tech prices here are generally quite high.

Looking on there I could go for:

- GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost 2GB 150 eu. ($200) This is a little higher then my budget but I could probably stretch
- Radeon HD 7790 1GB 120eu ($160

You're looking at a 650/650ti on the Nvidia side or a 7770/7790 on the AMD side - those are fair cards but I think they're a waste if you're wanting to improve your experience. If you prefer Nvidia, I think a 760/770 are good options but you're looking at a hefty price increase for awhile - don't think the 800 series is coming until next year. If you prefer AMD, I would take a look at their 8000 series when they release later this year. AMD is usually better performance for price, but I have had some duds in the past and their drivers can be a little buggy. I have an old 560 in my rig and am going to continue to use it until I see how BF4 runs - my FX-8150 and Nvidia 560 are handling most maps on High with stability. I am likely going to get a 760 later this year to add some of the texture affects and might use my 560 as a physics card.

Thanks for the response. Really I'm not looking for something super high end. My current card (Geforce gtx 260) is able to play everything that is out at the moment, but it can be laggy at times and worse is the overheating. Sometimes the fan is spinning so hard it sounds like it's about to explode. That card cost me about 150Eu, around 4 years ago so really I'm looking for something quieter, more efficient that will be able to run games better (for around the same price) - it doesn't have to be able to run Crysis 3 on the highest specs.
Due to some past bad experiences with AMD I would prefer Gforce although everything I've read suggests that I will get more for my money with AMD (in my price range) so really I'm quite open on it.

on Amazon.de ? the cheapest gtx660 I can find is 174eu. Although perhaps I'm going blind... I guess I need to wait another week or so until payday anyway so I'll keep an eye out until then and if not go with the 650ti boost. Thanks again for the help.
