Hi guys, needed some help working out a upgrade strategy.

I have the Asus sabertooth 990fx R2.0 and I wanted to know if my mobo is dual channel or quad? it has 4 slots but I read that despite having 4 slots it'll work in a dual channel config, so does this mean I can only have 2 ram sticks or could I potentially have 4 sticks but they will work in a dual channel?

Also this may have been better in the memory forum section but it is kinda relevant to my mobo, would I be better getting a 2 sticks of corsair vengeance (2x4=8gb at 2133mhz) and maybe add 2 more sticks of (2x4=8gb @ 2133mhz) if this is possible.

or is the 'gain' of faster ram not as good as say.....

2 sticks of 8gb (2x8gb @ 1600mhz) patriot viper 3 and upgrade to 32gb with the same in the future?

I suppose the main question is, is this possible with my board to have 4 sticks or will I have to have only two sticks?

Both deals are around the £80 mark. So less gb and faster or slower and more gb?

Yes you can get 8GB and then add another 8GB however it's not guaranteed that they will be compatible even if they are the exact same timings. Yes CAS 9 means 9-9-9-24. However at 2133Mhz it's very hard to find sticks at CAS 9, it's more...

Cheers for the reply, if I get a dual channel kit (2x4gb=8gb @2133mhz) can I get the same again? so 4 sticks of 4gb, 4,812,16gb total.
And this will run in a dual cannel setup with sticks?

And lastly CAS 9, does this mean 9-9-9-9-24 that I see on ram in the description? Sorry I am quite new to PC's so apologies for the vagueness in my reply's lol

Cheers for the replys bud, I decided to opt for the corsair vengeance 2x8gb @ 1600mhz CAS 9, went a little over my predicted budget but it'll be worth having the extra RAM and speed :)
