Hey everyone,

I am having some major issues with my work computer right now. I am running windows xp professional, version 2002, service pack 3. I came back after vacation and other people at work had been using my computer so I am not sure how all of this happened. The user account name doesn't appear in the task manager and when I tried to turn the terminal services on it gave me a dependency error. I went to the add/remove components and terminal services isn't even listed. I am unable to access the other hard drive from this computer though I can boot into it (has windows 7). I am unable to move files to flash drives, they won't drag at all or copy/paste. I have run eset on the windows 7 drive and it found no issues in either drive and I ran ClamWin while in the windows xp off of a flash drive. I could not download anything to the computer as it keeps saying that I don't have permission.

There are too many issues for me to even know where to start. Help me please.

That is my last resort right now as there is a lot of data on this computer and while most of it is backed up not all of it is and some of the software requires keys that cost outrageous sums of money so I want to try everything else before I get to that.

You can do a "Repair" using an XP PRO install disk. It will restore the OS without affecting the data or settings however you will have multiple updates to perform. There are two repair options when booting from the XP disk. The first one will lead you to a command prompt. You don't want that one. Just continue until given a choice to install or repair. Choose repair. You will need a valid product key. BTW, don't you have an administrator to handle stuff like this?
