vidio card install problem

hey guys.installed an evga 650 on my sons computer. it booted up fine then installed newer driver from NVidia site rebooted and only a blank dark screen appears. also noticed if I hit the cap lock key on keyboard the cap light doesn't light up seeming like there is no function if that's a any other sign. any help greatly appreciated.

Can I ask what graphics card was used previously? If at all?

Also, what power supply is in the computer? It should say the wattage of the power supply on a sticker on the actual power supply - it could just be a case of you don't have enough power (though that doesn't explain why it booted in the first place!)

Have you tried booting since then?

Boot into Safe Mode, uninstall the Nvidia driver and re-boot. Re-install the original driver you used that worked okay (don't update) to see if it still works.
Okay, if it works, don't update unless you really, really have to! Enjoy the driver that works and only update it when drivers have been thoroughly tested and out for a while.
