My dad has been "gaming" on PC for over a decade now, and hasn't ever had any kind of computer that I would consider nice. They have all been decent, but I know that he gave most of his extra cash to putting my sister and I through private school. He is turning 50 at the end of November, and I would like to upgrade his rig to something that can play games moderately. He currently uses this computer: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c03548976 . I'm 15 so the budget is limited, but I might get my sister to chip in (overall, around $250 to upgrade what we could). Any suggestions as to what we should do?

1. The APU is said to be able to do dual graphics with a 6670. Would it be worth it to go that route? Or should I just get him something like a 7870 and leave it at that?

2. If I should go single card, what is the best card you can recommend that wont be bottle necked by the a8-5600k? The budget for the card would be ~$250. If going with the dual graphics option, please keep in mind that the current motherboard in the computer does not support dual graphics, and I would have to buy another one.

3. The RAM is some Japanese brand, 8gb (2x4gb). Is this ok? Or should I upgrade to something else.

4. The PSU that the build will be using is a 525w Cooler Master Extreme3 (I believe). Please keep this in mind when suggesting upgrades.

My father doesn't play any intensive games. He plays the Call of Duty series, and Sniper Ghost Warrior and Sniper V2. I hope I can get him into Battlefield or even the Arma franchise, but that is for later times. Can you try to suggest a card that is ample for the games he already plays, and could play the possible ones on good settings? Thanks for all your help guys.

Solution
You should get a GPU and a new PSU. Don't crossfire the 6670. It won't really have much gains.

8gb RAM is plenty.
The Coolermaster PSU should be replaced as it is LOW quality.

I would get an Antec VP-450 PSU and an hd 7850. That should keep him set for a while with the games he plays.

That power supply isnt great, but compared to the Bestec unit the computer came with, its not too terrible. I would feel safe recommending a 7750 or 7770 on that power supply.

As "tiny voices" said, the Antec VP is a great unit; it is my recommended power supply of choice.
