So I built a new rig, and everything powers up. The graphics card seems to get power then it doesn't. I can tell because the fan starts up and slows down a bit, then starts back up and continues doing the same thing.. It does this in a quick fashion. I tried a few spare video cards and they do the same thing. I returned the power supply for new one. Same thing happened. Everything is fine but the video card does the same thing and it doesn't display anything

Any ideas what it could be? I honestly can't think of anything else.

More about : graphics card power

Try a different PCI-E port, if that doesn't work then try using the built in GPU on the motherboard, that should narrow down the problem. If it still doesn't boot then it sounds like you have a knackard motherboard

Hi,

Can you provide some details about your components?
PSU, GPU, CPU, motherboard, memory.

Best regards :)

Nightblade00 here. My main account. I forgot my password and then remembered lol.

Anyway the new rig is as follows.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... - just using 2 of these ram sticks

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... - PSU i returned
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... - current PSU
GPU is a AMD Radeon 6750 HD. Its old but, I had it an another comp I built a few months ago and I'm just using this in the meantime until I upgrade it. I put the upgraded GPU from my older comp in this new one and it does the same thing as I descibed in the OP.

I'll log in the other account so no worries once we get a solution after I try some stuff from the thread lol

Don't worry about your PSU not providing enough power because it is overkill for your setup.
How your PC reacts when no GPU is connected?
It is possible that something is not connected properly. Have you connected 12pin and 24pin connector firmly?

It seems to be fine. Everything in the background seems to be fine. I honestly don't remember checking on if it displays anything taking GPU out and starting it up.

You are plugging the 6-pin PCIe power supply connector into the graphics card, right?

Try to disconnect GPU from motherboard and check if there are any beeps (your PC speaker must be connected).
