I bough a new processor, fx6300 with an Asus motherboard. I'm now planning fo buy a SSD and use it to save windows on it. However, how can I just delete the partition on my old HDD on which windows in previously installed? Also, what are the steps involved to install a SSD?

Solution

60GB is marginally too small for a current Windows OS.
Yes, it will work. But you'll be fretting over the free space all the time. An SSD needs 10-15% empty, to allow TRIM to do its thing. So, for a 60GB, you're down to 50 usable space from the start.

How often do you boot your PC?

My SSD won't be big enough to store miscellaneous softwares. I need to just format the partition of the HDD where windows is installed.

Then you're just a little bit over the optimum max used space for that 60GB drive.
As said...it will work. Just be mindful of that free space.
