Hi, I have a Dell Optiplex MiniTower, which comes with a 275W PSU. It doesn't currently have a graphics card, and I figure something is better than nothing (right now it's using the i7 3rd gen onboard graphics). So without upgrading the PSU, is there a graphics card worth getting?

OK - Looks like you could run a 7750 if those +12v amps are as you state, you won't have the 27 total
available, somewhere it prob lists the max 12v output, but as long as it's at least 16a or 192w, you are OK
with a 7750. Just make sure you have a free slot for the card.

The tech specs indicate you do have a pcie x16 slot, if it's the mini tower.

Ah, I found it. There is a max 12v of 20amps(240w), you are good to go with a 7750.

The PSU of yours is bare minimum for system to run. Adding a GPU would be a torture. And in a result the system would crash eventually. So its better to upgrade the PSU to at least a rated 500W, then to think off of a GPU.

Here is a good PSU and a decent GPU :

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 650 Ti 2GB Video Card ($138.98 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: XFX 550W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($44.99 @ NCIX US)
Total: $183.97
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

What's the model # of your Dell mini-tower. An ATX PSU might not fit. Also, check the sticker affixed
to the side of the PSU and finf the amps(or watts) available on the +12v rail(s). Post that value here.

If your +12v amps is greater than 16, then you'd be able to run an hd7750. If not, you'd better upgrade PSU,
which you should do anyway.
