Hello everyone.

I built a new computer after the old one broke down. I checked the comparability of all the parts I ordered and everything should be fine. However when I try to turn on the computer to install a new operating system, it just sits on the Gigabyte bios screen for a few seconds before restarting itself. The other problem is that the keyboard won't respond when I hit the key for Bios setup.

I've never run into a problem like this before when building a new computer and have completely run out of ideas so any help would be greatly appreciated.

(Sorry if this is badly written or in the wrong area, only have my phone to do this from which makes it awkward)

Tried again without any HDD's plugged in. I've tried using two different keyboards, one plugged into USB 2.0 and an old PS/2 keyboard. It's still getting stuck and restarting.

Could it be that I have simply put the SATA cable for the DVD into the wrong port? I've never used a SATA DVD drive before and the only connections I can see for it are two Sata 3's and four Sata 2's down by the HDD.

Removed the battery for 5 minutes then tried again, still having the same issue. Unfortunately that's the only computer I have so I'm unable to make a bootable USB at the moment.

UPDATE: Just had a response from Gigabyte technical support saying that I might have to get a SandyBridge processor to run through the default Bios then swap it back to my IvyBridge CPU once the bios has been updated. Could this really be the case?
