how do I get a Sony handycam #650 to connect with Mint, sony doesnt have software for linux

Ive tried "sudo /mount -t hcam 650/dev/sdax/mnt." with no luck.
also downloaded mtp program.
hope you can help thx

It would appear according to the manual that all you need to do is plug into the USB and then copy from the display screen on the camera. Recent linuxes should automatically mount the memory, if it doesn't it's because the camera isn't sending anything out the USB. My phone, for example, requires that I activate USB storage, your camera probably does as well. If that still doesn't work you can use copy to put it on a USB drive to transfer to your computer.

Are you just trying to get the files off of the camera a auto mounting program might be best if you are connecting through usb http://usbmount.alioth.debian.org/ I used this a few times for my digital camera's even though I only use linux one in a while this seemed to work
