(i still have my old wireless modem and tryed to even hook it up to that modem. (it work but i still have a painful amount of speed. im paying for 20mg and i barley get 800k out of it and it starts going down after that. it is a shared thing tho. someone has there computer hooked up to it, its a 1100sq single layer house. if anyone can help me thanks

side note is im using there net for there phone. (all in one plain) so i dont know how to go around doing this since they seem to know shit and they claimed (after 2 guys coming out) it was my Fire fox causes this. (the thing is when im at another house with there sat-a-light net i run faster on there 1mb speed over all..

If it works ok when you are on a wired connection go into the device and set it to bridge mode and buy any router you like since you no longer are restricted by the need to connect to cable.

Which one you buy is hard to say, likely all the major brands will work about the same. You will have to read the reviews and make you own call, every router is hated and praised mostly because peoples houses are much more different than any difference between routers.

If you actually need to replace the modem it is going to be a challenge. Look at the list of compatible devices. You want a docsis 3 device but you are going to be very limited because you also need phone ports. Likely there are only 1 or 2 devices on the list that meet those...

Your wireless issue may be the standard interference with neighbor issues so try other channels before you go to the trouble of replacing equipment..
