Hi guys, I have a Dell XPS8500 pc with a intel core i7 3770k processor. I custom installed a gtx 660 and randomely my pc would restart itself in the middle of while I am playing games. I checked on my gpu temperatures and they were getting up to about 90-95 degrees Celsius even while running basic games such as Slender. My fan would start working really hard until eventually my whole system would restart itself. With this problem i'm unable to play any games without my cpu crashing. Please let me know of any solutions to this problem as soon as possible. By the way I have 2 cpu fans and neither of them seem to really be helping the problem.

Thanks

Solution
Classic evga 660 problem, I would try it in another computer, when it does the same thing then send it away to RMA.
So many reports of the EVGA 660 oc's working perfectly for a few months then crapping out. Mine did the same.

Well step one is always dust/vacuum/blow it out
Does your 660 blow the hot air all out the back, or is some of it recirculated into the case? Does it overheat with the side panel off?

How hot is your room? (like, average temp, or unpleasantly hot)

Also, is there a fan in the front blowing air into the case? or just the exhaust fan?

It does overheat even with the side panel off. My room becomes unpleasantly hot after gaming for a while due to all the hot air blowing out of my cpu. I have 1 fan blowing the exhaust and another which I believe blows air inside.

What does your GPU and CPU idle at?
and did this problem start when you installed your new graphics card? or was it alright for a while, then started crashing?
If you could link to the exact card you have (like on newegg or something) that would also help track down cause
also, how long does it take to over heat? approximately

I have the same issue, except my computer completely shuts down and I can't restart it for about 2 minutes. It started happening when I went to 3D Vision Surround (running FSX). Runs REALLY WELL for about 3 minutes, then dies. When I revert to standard configuration (non 3D Surround), it's OK.

Try limiting the frames, to about 30-45 and try working your way up. If not, it's because those EVGA's aren't too reliable or your heatsink might not be mounted on properly.
