Hey guys,
So i am very new to gaming PC's and i was wanting to create my first gaming PC. Now i know 300 dollars is not very much but i am wanting to build of the 300 dollars. My 300 dollar budget can shifted a little bit if it will create a bigger difference (Max 60 dollars).

I have an old laptop. Toshiba satellite A500 which i was wondering if i could use any of the components from that.
http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/products/computers/satellite/a500/psar9a-031001/specifications (This is it here).

So yeah if you guys could give me a estimation on what some good components would be. I am thinking of using my TV as a monitor its about 22". If that is a bad idea can you guys suggest a monitor.

I saw a page on here talking about 300 dollar computers but i would really like 8gb of ram but if thats not possible then that is ok as well.

Thanks.

You can probably take the HDD. It's going to be slow since it's only 5400rpm and really old, but that's up to you.
Here you go:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: AMD A10-5800K 3.8GHz Quad-Core Processor ($129.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: ASRock FM2A75 Pro4-M Micro ATX FM2 Motherboard ($74.98 @ Newegg)
Memory: Crucial Ballistix 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($33.81 @ NCIX US)
Case: Zalman Z5 Plus ATX Mid Tower Case ($39.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Corsair CX 430W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V Power Supply ($24.99 @ Newegg)
Optical Drive: LG GH24NS95 DVD/CD Writer ($12.98 @...

And then if you want a faster HDD, you can completely max out your budget with this: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/western-digital-internal-hard-drive-wd10ezex

One last question does it come with a fan? and if so is that fan quiet or loud?

Thats a fine build to start off with when money permits add a heatsink 212 hyper or evo from cooler master then you can oc the chip a little to make the system really fast use a SSD DRIVE as your boot around 90-100 bucks for a good samsung or kingston model. Your pc will do just fine with 4 gig of ram like mention above 2x2 = 4 I also have a 5800 k a 6600K AND a 6100 I play more on the apu,s computers then I do the 6100 fx .. I also have a corsair 500 watt power supply works well so the above build is fine enjoy and happy building.

Why?: I am thinking of using my TV as a monitor its about 22"

Seriously, Steam will be dead in three years thanks to all the dregs of humanity playing DOTA 2, etc. on it.

I was planning on building a better system, but I think my next 'PC' will ultimately end up being a gaming console; even though I am well aware the 'next gen' consoles are slower than my 'already aged' PC.

Look at the Steam Survey data before you part with your money, as it honestly sounds like money is not something you want to part with only to later regret the decision.

I also doubt you'll have another $300 to put into the machine 18 to 24 months later. (Based on the spec'd that you're limited to due to a low starting budget and other factors).

Well shitfire I better play my games before steam dont work I have like over 100 of them I have bought and never played yet just no time guess it will be back to the old doom and wolfinstien for me I will never go to a console been there done that in the past if it isnt the old seaga and double dragon not going to try to play on a box that wasnt meant in my mind to play games like they have been in the last 30 years my games started on a pc and will end on a pc for me ... I tryed the xbox was cool but its just not me im just a old diehard when it comes to the box IE= pc

Why not go with an A8 or an A6 with an integrated GPU and have enough for a lower end Graphics card down the line. This way you'll also be able to run the integrated GPU and separate card together in SLI.

But for the sake of the build, after all the price restriction being 300$, saving some dosh on the CPU to upgrade to a better Graphics Card. (Also on a side note you can clock the ram from 1600mhz to 1886mhz with a few simple youtube tutorials.)And a separate card would help graphics process effortlessly.
