Hello, I have a wd scorpio blue 2.5" hdd which has now ceased to be accessible. There is no clicking like alot of people report from a broken hdd and and it still powers up as usual. I have now went and bought a new usb external enclosure and i put it in that and plugged it in to my computer . . . but it still could not be read yet the hdd still starts up i can feel it when i put my hand on it. I left it plugged in for about 10 mins and then something happened! i heard the sound that tells me something had been plugged into a usb port i looked at my computer and my hdd had finally appeared but it says i have 0 bytes of free space and 0 bytes of used space. I safely removed the drive and tryed plugging it back in again . . . . i had to wait another 10 mins for it to show up again. I downloaded a software called "recuva" and used the wizard to recover any data on that hdd but when i tried it said "the path does not exist". I have not been able to find anywhere on the internet where someone has had a similar problem to this it was either "clicking noises" or they had to format their hdd. Could anyone bring to light what the problem may be and whether my hdd is dead ? i thought if my hdd was dead it would not show up full stop but for some reason after 10 mins it does.

Thanks for reading my long winded post.
Hope to hear from anyone soon! =)

My os is Windows 7 64bit professional

The file system of PC got corrupted, thus not detecting the ex HDD. When the HDD is not being detected it tells you 0 bytes of used and free space.

So try it on another system or format the PC. Nothing will work now, so don't force things to make it work.

Or you could plug the ex HDD directly to the MB of PC, see if its get detected.
