I want to buy a new SDD but then I find out motherboard supports AHCI is important. I google and cannot find out if my Intel DG41TY motherboard supoort AHCI. Look like the default manual doesn't mention it but may be newest bios has it.

Solution
Well, SSDs do work in IDE mode (except maybe when there are some specific bugs from controllers) but at a performance penalty. Usually SSDs use NCQ which is not supported in IDE mode. For better assurance, contact intel support and ask this question as they should know which ssd would be compatible or incompatible with that old chipset.
