I am doing a fresh install of Win 7 X32 on a Dell D830 XP system. I will be installing a new 500 GB HD and 4 GB of ram. The issue is this was a company computer and the old HD was wiped with boot nuke so I have no drivers. Will I be able to use a program like driver detective with the fresh Win 7 install and load all my correct drivers without any issues? As well the IT guys had Dell disable the blue tooth chip do I will need to flash it to work properly, driver detective did this for me with a D630 running a re-installed Vista program, will it have any issues with Win 7?

I have also read about video driver issues with Win-7 and old XP laptops, is this a concern or do the Nivida drivers work properly when installed?

Thanks for the help.

Solution
The D830 runs Windows 7 just fine. You can use the available Vista drivers (same driver model), although you may have to run the installers in compatibility mode.
As the Dell D830 originally had XP on it, first you need to check the Dell Support website to see if they have any Windows 7 drivers for that model. If they don't have any, your plan to put Windows 7 on it is a non-starter. I think they'll have Windows Vista drivers for it so they may be okay but no way of knowing for sure until you try them - - some may work, others may not.

Looking at Dell's web site it seems that Win 7 might not be the direction I want to take unless I don't want various aspects like blue-tooth to work. So were can I find a cheap legit version of Vista?

Thanks for the help. Now I need to figure out why the DDR2 667 Mhz memory I just bought won't work. Trying to go from 2 GB to 4 GB and it won't work in either Latitude D630 of D830.
