pc runs but doesnt do anything

ok so i replaced the motherboard and i replaced the cpu and the computer still turns on but it just runs and doesnt do anything, the power button doesnt work to turn the pc off and my reset switch doesnt work either or anything the only way i can turn it off is by unplugging it or switching off with the power supply

What power supply are you using? And can you take it somewhere to be tested? Pretty much the only other thing it could be.

But I am now 100% sure its the mobo. The symptoms you describe strongly indicate a dead motherboard, seen it too many times to count. I am willing to put money down that its the board.

Thats not what he asked, he asked if you could reset the CMOS, despite it being a new board, sometimes clearing the CMOS helps with the issues you describe. The only other thing to say is its a DOA mobo, and you need to RMA it, so it might not hurt to clear the CMOS and see if it works before incurring the shipping charges and hassle that is the RMA process.

i can hook up another power supply to it to try it, ill try to return it. thanks guys
