Turning off cores AMD FX-8350 Vishera

I bought my AMD FX-8350 Vishera a while back and I was wondering if it would be better to run it with 4 cores on with the memory in unganged mode, instead of all 8 cores, because the mother board only has 4 memory channels. I'm currently running this pc with all 8 cores active and the memory in ganged mode.

CPU: AMD FX- 8350 Vishera
Motherboard: Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0
RAM: 16GB - 4X4GB - GSkill Ripejaw DDR3 1066

If you want better performance, try faster RAM. Anything over 8 GB is really unnecessary at this point for gaming, and DDR3-1600 or 1866 MHz RAM would get you much better results than the 1066 MHz stuff you're running now. I would do a 2x4 GB kit of 1866 MHz RAM and see what results you get.
