I've recently reinstalled my OS and before proceeding with installing more programs I want to make sure that all drivers are setup correctly. First order of business was making sure that I resolve freezing on my Corsair C300-CTFDDAC256M SSD. I've resolved it by installing SetupRST.exe for my Intel Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller from:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=23060&ProductFamily=Software+Products&ProductLine=Chipset+Software&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+Rapid+Storage+Technology+%28Intel%C2%AE+RST%29&lang=eng

But just in case I've also executed this fix:
http://forum.crucial.com/t5/Solid-State-Drives-SSD/Solution-C300-Disk-Freeze-ups-in-Windows-7-solved-for-me/m-p/38766#M12342

Now, I'm unsure if my other disk WD6400BEVT is working optimally since it occasionally happens that I need to wait few seconds just to get directory listing. I've tested both disks using CrystalDiskMark and here are the results as screenshots:

Corsair:

WD:

For both drives in AS SSD Benchmark I get iaStorA - OK and firmwares are 0007 for Corsair and 01.0 for WD.

So, do you see anything in these results that is unusual - can you advise me if I can fix / double check anything? If you need more information - just say - I will be glad to supply it.

Thanks in advance!

Under the power settings is the hdd allowed to spin down? Make sure it's set to stay always on.

If I go Control Panel -> Power Options ->Edit Plan Settings -> Advanced Power settings -> Hard Disk -> turn off is set to 20 minutes.

I've also now started that Intel Rapid Storage Technology app that I got when installing SetupRST.exe and went to Performance to set Link Power Management: Disabled. Didn't notice any improvement (rerun Crystal Disk Mark and results are the same) - probably because I executed that fix from the 2nd link I gave.

Any other ideas on what I can try? Are my results on WD/Corsair within "normal" range?

Thanks!

Change from 20min to never.

For the SSD you are supposed to get 355/215 Read/Write speed, so you are doing well there. Your WD hdd seems to slow. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/640gb-mobile-hdd,24...

I just went through the pile of old hardware I have and found Seagate Momentus 7200.4 500 GB ;) . I'll backup WD, install Seagate and come back with results.

Thanks for your help so far!

If you can test the WD when it's blank. I wonder if the scores are lower because there is data on the drive. (Unless thats what are you doing, I can't quite understand your post...)
