Emachines EL1300 motherboard replacement

So basically, the motherboard on my moms E-machine died. And, I would like to replace it for her, but keep the case. Does anyone know if there are mini-itx boards compatible with an AMD Sempron 3500 CPU? Thanks. =)

  1. Perusing Newegg, I don't see any mini-ITX mobos that support AM2 CPUs. There are several FM1 and FM2 options (would require a new mobo, CPU, and memory) and a couple "embedded AMD CPU" options (would need new memory). See below:

What is you budget for this effort?

My mom uses the computer to check her email and Facebook. the worse she's thrown at it is Farmville. No extreme gaming is going on here. All she needs is something very basic. Within $100-120.

    I would suggest these then:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820146746

This is for a motherboard and memory. You should be able to recycle other components. You may also have to get a new Windows license if Microsoft won't let you activate (use the voice method) the original install you currently have.

She doesn't need a super fast computer, a dual core processor should be enough for light gaming and internet browsing.
  5. Your choices are essentially the same, but more expensive. They too will work.

As you can see, the computer has limited space with ram slots are directly beneath the hard drive. I think only low profile RAM would fit. Such as....http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148661
  7. Agreed. Good call.
