I assembled my pc, double checked a million times, used anti static wrist strap and touched my PC chassis, and when I plugged it in for the first time and flipped the switch I got absolutely nothing, no motherboard lights no fans, no led lights, absolutely nothing pressed the power button, only thing I realized I might had plugged in wrong was because my motherboard has an 8 pin and a 4 pin next to my cpu, plus my psu had two sets of 4+4 CPU modular cables so I hooked them both to my psu then one 4+4 to my 8 pin then I hooked only the 4 pin of the the other modular cable to 4 pin on my motherboard. What I'd like to know is what damage could that of caused if any at all just trying to figuring out what I have to rma. I hooked just the 8 pin cable up then I hooked just a 4 pin up and still absolutely nothing. Running out of ideas. Motherboard is maximus vi formula, CPU is I7 4770k , memory is g skill trident x 2400 MHz, psu is corsair ax860 gpu is evga gtx 780 hydrocopper, CPU is water cooled custom, thermal paste was mx-4

I would agree while some board will work with just the 8-pin some will need both plugged in. Best guess would be that your board needs to have the 8-pin and 4-pin plugged in to give the CPU the proper power it needs. If you do not have another 4-pin CPU cable from the PSU you can get a molex to 4-pin adapter cable.

Yeah my psu has enough cables do if that's not the problem then that means everything was hooked up right and other PC didn't do anything . What could be wrong then my PC is a brick. My 30 day is up in
Like 2 days so I need to know if it could be more then then just the psu being the problem. Also could it be because I don't have a fan hooked up to CPU fan spot. Reason is the sp120 fans are on the rad up top and don't reach cause my mother board is flipped.

Yeah my psu has enough cables it has 2 8 pin cables labeled cpu and theyre split into 2 four pin. So if that's not the problem then that means everything was hooked up right and other PC didn't do anything . Wierd thing is my asus manual says dont forget to hook up the 8 pin/ 4 pin atx cables then the next page it shows a diagram which i guess half assed says that ypu only need to hook up either tge 8 pin or the 4 pin not both. i was so confused so i just plugged in both. still wondering What could be wrong then my PC is a brick. My 30 day is up in
Like 2 days so I need to know if it could be more then then just the psu being the problem. Also could it be because I don't have a fan hooked up to CPU fan spot. Have watercooled cpu. also as i recall i seated the cpu perfectly only concern i had was the stupid arctic mx 4 paste came out to thick tried to get as much as i could off, could that be a problem, but Reason is the sp120 fans are on the rad up top and don't reach cause my mother board is flipped and the fan 4 pin cables are ridiculously short. Any advice would be great, also should I worry that if keep trying my psu it will mess up my other components.

Yeah that's the thing I did have enough chords and I hooked it up the way you suggested weird thing Is the diagram in my asus manual suggest you only have to hook up one or the other( diagram sucks tho) between 8 pin and 4 pin. So I'm at a loss getting worried every time I try something different I'm damaging more components. Every forum I read people are getting some life signs I'm not getting absolutely any no fans no LEDs nothing no error beeps no error codes, It's depressing I expected to have problem but not absolutely nothing.

Maybe a silly question, but did you turn on the PCU using the motherboard power button or by shorting the wires? If you do not first do that, then even with the PCU switched on hitting the case's power button will do nothing.

K I'm I just jumped 24 pin atx cable and hooked up my molex running 5 fans plus water cooling plus case LEDs and everything turned on even the psu fan turned on and yes I did try to press the red start button on my mobo. What I would like to know is how to connect my cpu power the asus manual tells you to do two different things :( also I just moved my both my sticks of memory a slot over. Also when I turn my psu when connected to the mobo shouldn't the light on the mobo atleast come on.

So yeah any advice on what to do next would be awesome if really like to find out what I need to rma and info on troubleshooting motherboard, taking components out is a pain cause I have a cpu/gpu water cooling loop hooked up.
