Overheating cpu problem?

MY 3570k seems to be running hotter than it should. In a 75 degree room. its topping out at 70c using prime95. I don't have an overclock on it. Using evo 212+. Fan is set up to push air through heatsink towards back. I've redone the heatsink paste three times with no change. my case has 2 front intake, 1 back exhaust, and 2 unused top vents. Any ideas?

Solution
for an ivy bridge, 70c is normal for prime 95.

Perhaps you should try a bit of overclocking and see if the temp rises a lot.

Even my 3770k hits around 70c at stock clock speeds and I am using a hyper 612plus cooler. Good thing it still stays around 75c in prime95 even when I OC it around 4.4ghz.

Those temps are normal, but slightly high. Running prime95 those temps are actually low for a 212+. I would not have recommended OCing on the 212+ though. I would recommend if you want lower temps to use the 212 EVO, but those temps are not dangerous. I would suggest dropping the + with an EVO if you are worried, or want to OC.

yep. ivy bridge cpus use a thermal paste under the heatspreader and many of them have an airbubble inside the spreader causing problems transferring heat from the chip to the spreader to the cpu cooler. it sounds like you have a small air bubble in your chip.

that said 70C in prime95 isn't all that bad a temp. you shouldn't get too worried unless you see those temps start to hit 90C. If you want to bring the temps down learn how to delid the cpu.

Thanks for the responses. The reason this concerns me is because I see people with the same cooler, same processor saying they don't break 65. Some that have large airflow cases say they dont even break 60
