dell e2414 monitor wont work

when i try to use my computer which is new and i try to connect it to my computer it goes straight to sleep mode and i cant use it. is there i fix to this problem?

If the monitor uses blue VGA cable not a white Dev I cable make sure your plugged into the gpu or onboard video port not one of the serial ports.
On new pc if there onboard and a gpu you have to plug the monitor into onboard video to see the post screen. On older monitors if you see the CMOS pst screen then windows splash screen then nothing then windows is desplaying an output your monitor can't sink too.

thanks for the input i figured out what i did wrong and for a first build it went perfectly and i only had 1 6pin connector instead of 2 but thanks.
