Hi guys, new to the forum! I'm currently planning out a new build for a music production/gaming rig. I'm pretty into doing film scoring style stuff(hobby, not a job), so I will be using a lot of plug ins, effects, etc. I'm also an avid gamer. Here's the setup I'm looking at now(minus the little things->cd roms etc), any suggestions or comments?

Case-Coolermaster storm stryker atx full

CPU-Intel Core i7-3930K Sandy Bridge-E 3.2GHz, is this a little overkill maybe? I'm not looking to overclock, but I will be running some fairly intensive/multiple VST programs.

Mobo-now I haven't found anything for a mobo quite yet. I'd like it to have a spdif port, and firewire, or at the minimum a separate firewire port included. And plenty of USB ports obviously. Any recommendations? I don't plan on doing any overclocking, I'd also like to keep the price under $350.

Sound card-Planning on using an external audio interface

It's going to be a chunk of change, but I'm looking to not have to upgrade significantly for some time like my previous build.

Thanks!

In future, please use names of components and save us old folks the RSI issues :)

The 500R is a small improvement over the Stryker but it comes in combo with the 10.0 jonnyguru rated HX850 for $100 less

Case - $250 - Corsair 500R (w/ firewire) http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1390832
