I'm looking to get a ssd. The samsung evo just came out looks good for price and performance. I'm looking for a boot drive and to run bf3 and bf4. ( bf3 for the days that bf4 is down). I'm thinking 250 gn so if if get any games I could put them on there. And how can I transfer games from my hard drive. I got a 2tb seagate barracuda hard drove in there now.
So what 250gb ssd for around $250?
And I would b putting windows 8 on there instead of the windows 7 I have.

If u need to know system specs
3570k i5
Asus saber tooth z77
2tb senate hard drive
Corsair cx 750 power supply
Gtx evga 780(getting on Friday before ssd gonna sli)
A sound blaster sound card

256 GB is a good size, IF you have additional storage space. The Samsung SSDs are highly rated and the performance of the new EVOs is awesome! The Samsung 840 Pros have a longer warranty though (5 yrs. vs,. 3 yrs.). A LOT more info on SSD selection here: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ssd-recommendation-benchmark,3269.html

If your current HDD gaming partition + Windows is less than 205 GB, you can clone that partition to the new SSD. You have to leave some free space on the SSD so that is the reason for the 205 GB limit.

If your gaming + Windows partition is over 205 GB, you'll have to re-install your OS and programs on the SSD from scratch. There is no easy way that I know of to selectively clone individual programs from an existing installation on the HDD to the SSD.

Good luck!

I decided I'm getting a 120 gb for my windows only aka windows 8 from scratch. And then get a 250 go for games I play a lot and leave the other stuff on my hdd. Amd cam I just delete the stuff I don't want on my hdd amd reinstall on my ssd then250 gb for the gaming? And can I have steam on the ssd but not all the games amd same with origin?

Yes you can.

I'm not sure about Steam and Origin, but I think that will work. Maybe someone else can confirm that.

So I'm getting a 120gb for windows 8 and I, getting a 250 gn for my games. Idk what windows 8 I would need I have 32 gigs of ram. And could I just delete the stuff on the hdd, what I'm gonna reinstall on my ssd? And how do I install windows 8 onto a ssd if u get it on the same day which I am doing? Would it b smarter to just to have windows 8 then delete what I need then redox load it to my ssd? Sorry about all the questions pretty new to pc lol

Do you have a valid Windows 8 disk to use for installation? If not, and assuming that you have a valid Win 8 product key, you can go to this site and create a CD ISO file to make your own installation media from: http://www.redmondpie.com/download-windows-8-iso-x86-x6...

Extract and burn the downloaded ISO file to a CD.

Shut down the computer and remove the HDD. Install the SSD. Start the computer and go into the BIOS. Select "AHCI" for the SATA mode. Also set your boot priority to boot from the Optical drive, followed by the SSD. Boot into the Win 8 install CD that you created and format the SSD and install Windows. After the installation is complete, be sure to install all necessary drivers and Windows updates.

When you are done with the installation to the SSD, you may want to re-install the HDD. If so, shut down, re-install the HDD. Restart and go into the BIOS and BE SURE that the SSD is still second in the boot order after the optical drive. Start Windows. Clean up the files on the HDD and copy what you want over to the SSD.

Go into the Disk Management Console and format your old Win 8 partition on the HDD AND DELETE THE SRP (System Reserved Partition on the HDD. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS WINDOWS MAY TRY TO BOOT INTO THE OLD INSTALLATION!
