I am setting up a new box for the arrival of BF4, and i thought i would ask the community here about the specs. I am also planning to use this computer for Visualization.

Essentially what i am most unsure about is the PSU.

Here is the build:

BitFenix Prodigy
Corsair CX430M
ASUS H87I-PLUS - Haswell
Intel Core i7-4770K Haswell
Samsung 840 Pro SSD 128GB
Crucial Ballistix Tactical - 16 GB : 2 x 8 GB
AMD HD 7970

Cheers!

looks pretty good, but you should maybe get a 500w minimum, 80+ efficient psu. also, i see you have a 4770k listed, but a H87 board. if you wish to utilised the unlocked multiplier properly, get a motherboard with Z87 instead. or otherwise get the non-k 4770, since the H87 board wont let you fully utilise the k-series cpu

Recommended is 30 amps on the +12V rail and 500W total, but the +12V requirement is more important. CX430M is rated for 32 amps on the +12V rail, which is cutting it close, and that's before considering overclocking.
I'd suggest at least a CX600M instead.

As far as the rest, I advise you get an aftermarket cpu cooler if you plan to overclock (as suggested by your choice of the 4770K), and a hard drive to augment that SSD (128GB seems too small to run as the only drive in the system).

Edit: @bradsctt: H87 chipset might not limit overclocking as much as you think:

Thanks for your reply.

Really, 500W? Ok, i will see what my budget will allow, i am pushing the limit as it is already.

In regards to the Z87 chip-set being the only chip-set able to utilize the k-series features, ASUS has released a BIOS upgrade allows for more utilization.

ASUS BIOS Update

i had seen that. depends on if the OP wants to OC, of course.
isnt it also true that you can get a bit of an OC out of the non-k series haswell cpus?

yeah. it depends on if you plan to overclock though. no point spending extra for something you dont need. but it sounds like you may OC XD

Thank you for your input.

I will look into the CX600 for sure. I'm sure some overclocking will be done in the future.

As for HDD, i have never filled up a HDD in my entire life. 128GB will more than enough for my needs.

Again. Thanks for your input. Much appreciated.
