My ethernet port is not working. When I connect the Lan cable from modem to the PC port, sometimes even the light too doesn't show up. It is not able to detect the network. But when I connect the modem via USB to PC the internet is on. I am not able to understand what is the problem.

Is there some problem with my motherboard ?

If you have a router you can connect the cable modem to the router and if you get a light from the internet then the port on the modem works or you can do the laptop thing as well. :) I would update your bios firmware 1st though. It would suck to go thru the time to RMA only to find out a firmware update could fix if that was the problem.

It's very possible the port is dead. I would suggest you try a firmware update for your mobo. If that doesn't work then I would suggest you RMA it if it's still under Warranty. If not then just purchase a cheap NIC card.

Even I think so. But I am speculating that the port of Modem may be also dead. So I am gonna try to get a laptop or something to see whether it gets connected.

The MoBo is under warranty, so I can get it replaced. Thanks for your suggestions.

Yeah..I am gonna try to update the firmware. Since the MoBo is just 2 months old....I guess Firmware should not be a problem.
