Hi,

My PC has started to randomly freeze and I can't do anything until I force reboot or shut down.

It has happened 3 times now in the past week (I have had this OS installed for over a year, not 1 problem at all).

I didn't really change anything in my setup.
I did a checkdisk yesterday and it took about 6 hours so I thought it would have corrected any problems.

I checked the event logs and nothing really stood out, some networking name resolution errors but that was about it.

How do I go about finding what the cause was?

Are you doing anything specific when it occurs (such as playing games, watching video (on or offline), launching a program, etc)? It could also be a RAM issue. You could also try running a memory test.

Also, could you provide some additional details such as system specs & the OS. Anything else you can think of would be helpful as well.

Actually now that I think about it, the last 2 times it happened I had just opened poker software and was messing around on it. Within a minute or so my PC just completely froze.

Don't suppose you know what that "poker software" was called (and/or who it was made by)? Is it something you downloaded or perhaps a web-app (e.g. Flash based browser game). It could just be a poorly programmed game. If we cant figure anything else out, try avoiding it for a while and see f it happens elsewhere. We can either rule it out or finger it as the problem this way.
