Hi all,

I apologize in advance, this is going to be a long post.

A few days ago my PC started to crash with BSOD BCCODE 124's. At first every few hours and then every hour and finally within a few seconds of booting up. Here are my specs

CPU: i5-3570K (initially OC'd to 4.4 gHz, then back to stock after first few BSOD)
GPU: EVGA 670 GTX
MEM: 4x4 Gb 1600 RipJaw something
Mobo: Asrock Z77 extreme 6
PSU: Seasonic 850W gold
SSD: Crucial M4 256 Gb
OS: Win7 Home

So in the phase where the PC would only crash every hour or so I started testing components with software.

CPU: I ran prime 95 for about 30-45 min with good temps no crash
GPU: FurMark for about 30 minutes with good temps no crash
Mem: I ran the memtest that is included in windows (the one at reboot under DOS) 100% OK
SSD: So i started running CHKDSIK and such and it seemed like the PC would crash every time (this was probably coincidence but at the time caused me to blame the SSD).

So thinking it was the SSD that was failing and reading up on the crucial M4's known problems after 5000 hours of use I went out and bought a different SSD, a Samsung 840 pro 128 GB. After swapping the SSD's I proceeded to install a fresh copy of windows7 home edition and ...

BSOD BCCODE 124 #$%^#$%&#$^&% !!!!!!!!!

Ok so what followed was a frenzy of hardware checks. I removed the GPU and ran the PC off the intel HD 4000 still BSOD. I removed the ram DIMMS 2 by 2 still BSOD. I swapped the SSD's back and forth still BSOD. Always the same error code 124. Ok so in my despair I began suspecting the Mobo. I was reaching the limits of my knowledge/comfort with PC's and decided to take the machine to a local hardware store for professional advice the next morning (its 3AM at this point).

At the shop they repeated all my steps despite me telling them I did all the stuff. They tried with a regular HD as well. I even asked them to try with a different PSU just to be sure. Same thing always getting a BSOD now when trying to install a fresh copy of windows within a few minutes.

Their conclusion was that the MOBO must be faulty and at that point I agreed.

So after making sure that if their conclusion was incorrect they would take the new mobo back I bought a new Mobo (INTEL Z77GA-70K). After a few hours of replacing and re-wiring everything I proceed to booting the PC. I start a fresh install of windows and bsod bccode 124 [censored language].

So this morning I brought back the whole thing to the shop. They are going to verify if I connected everything right and if such take back their MOBO (they better reinstall mine free of charge). So at this point I am thinking it must be the CPU? anyone have any ideas short of buying a new CPU? I'm not sure they will agree to the same buy-back deal with a CPU as they are sealed and such. I'm just out of ideas here and any input is welcome.
