I will be getting a new PSU for my older low-gaming rig. I already took it upon myself to start to mod my OEM case. But my current PSU does not have enough watts for future needs. My PC is coming to a point to where I cannot upgrade it much further and I know what i want to "finish" the computer off. One of those things, is to sleeve the new PSU I will be getting. I also do not the extra cables attached to this non-modular PSU. What is the safest way to remove them?

P.s. Idc about the warranty. Also getting a modular PSU isn't the answer I'm looking for.

Thank you in advance

Also be careful to not melt away the plastic on any other wires that belong to connectors you will continue to use as those will need to be covered as well if the plastic melts away. Under no circumstance should the copper wire touch another copper wire or any part of the PSU unless it is shielded with tubing.

If leaving them on is out of the question then I would recommend getting some shrink wire sleeves and cutting the connectors and most of the cord off only leaving enough to attach and shrink the sleeve on it enough to completely cover the wire. You will have to do that to each individual wire you cut though and not mix then together or you will short or even fry your PSU.

With that you slide it over the wire with about half a centimeters worth sticking past it and heat it with a blow dryer until it shrinks over and sticks to the wire.

A quick and safe way is to cut the extra cables with an inch or two left for stubs. Then strip back a quarter inch of each wire and crimp wire plugs to prevent accidental shorting of the wires.

A more crude approach is to simply electrical tape the cut ends, individually.

All you're trying to accomplish is to prevent shorting of the wires if they get moved around while the system is powered.

Make sure everything is powered off before attempting any of this :)
