When I log in on my almost new custom pc, running windows ultimate 64 bit, this error pops up, and I can't get rid of it.

I also get an error while trying to enter steam big picture on steam, and to check my windows/directx installation.

Any ideas? im baffled.

Uninstall Windows Live if you have it installed, see if that works. Are you using a legal version of Windows? If not, get a real copy and install that, wherever you got the copy of Windows from could have bad files in it, or maybe from the beta version.

I have a legit ultimate 64 bit.
dont have live.

I can't do anything on this pc more or less now, installing software wise anyways...

How about in safe moode? If you can get into safe mode, you can try reinstalling directx.

When i dl and launch it i get no option to re install, its just says an equivalent version is already installed.

Do a search on the drive for that file as well as in the registry, see where it's being loaded from. If you right-click on the file, it should give you some version numbers as well as maybe some detail where it came from.
