I have two CPUs that the motherboards died on. =( I really need some help finding an upgrade path for them. Can I upgrade to a FM2 board for he 3870K? And I am not sure how to discern which newer motherboards are still compatible with a AM3 CPU? Someone please help! I will name my first child after you! =)

No you cannot use an FM2 motherboard as the AMD FM2 socket is not backwards compatible with FM1 processors. As for the 1100t you can use any motherboard that supports socket AM3 or AM3+ although i would recommend one with at least a 970NB.
