I recently put Windows 7 on my Mac and remembered how much I used to like Red Alert 2 (I know it's old) so I installed it - however I can't play on the Internet. Here's what I've done so far:
1. Downloaded the LAN patch and placed in my RA2 file. Now, under Network in the game instead of 'IPX not found' there are a lot of 0's. So I'm assuming it's running. Nothing in the Socket number or destination.
2. Under Properties I changed my compatibility to Windows XP. Also, some said to change all .exe to Windows XP. I can't find .exe files for RA2.
These are the fixes I found online. Yet still when I click on quick match or custom match, RA2 tells me I need an upgrade, I click 'OK', it attempts to connect and then says can't download patch, check connection, and try again later. My internet is working fine other than on RA2, so I don't think it's the connection. Please help.
