I'm torn between two, Xigmatek Dark Knight SD1283 and Coolermaster Hyper 212x. Which one is best bang for buck?
I'll probably oc it to 4.5-4.6 depends on my rig.

Well, I used Hyper 212 Plus in Push Pull. And at 4.3 GHz for my Core i5 2500K, it works pretty good. And I've used it for nearly 2 years without reapplying thermal paste. Still works but it'll be best to reapply.

OP did want to OC to 4.5-4.6 so bigger is etter then..
Look this reviw. http://www.hardwareheaven.com/reviews/1642/pg1/thermalright-macho-reva-bw-cpu-cooler-review-introduction.html
And look here noise level http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?285916-Thermalright-HR-02-Macho-Rev.A%28BW%29

Or the cheaper option, just get a used TRUE off eBay, it'll do just as well (or the Venomous-X
variant, etc.) Last one I bought came with two fans, only cost 15 UKP total (that's about $24),
it's now running a 2500K @ 4.7, which took a mere 3 mins to setup (once fully sorted I'm sure
it'll be fine @ 5.0).

That's a rather visually misleading graph, given the Y-axis does not begin
at 0. I know 0db doesn't make sense when it comes to noise levels (silence
is about 30 or somesuch), but even so...

Should I reconsider my choice and go for water cooling? Or lower my oc target to maybe like 4.2ghz? I'm considering Corsair H100i but it's bit too expensive and due to my budget now I can only go for cheaper heatsinks. Perhaps after a few month I'll change for water cooling.

Yeah just OC to 4,2 for now and if you feel you need more upgrade in the future bud.

The cooler master hyper 212 evo is best bangt per buck but you will not be able to OC the i5-3570k past 4.3ghz with that cooler bud,
maybe best look price first.
Look thiscooler in this build. http://extremespec.net/gigabyte-ga-b85-hd3-motherboard-review-design-testing-performance/3/
Scythe Kama Angle Rev.B
If you can not find that then look this.

Bit cheaper than CM 212 EVO and can do the same job.

I know.

That's a rather blunt way of putting it....

If I was being equivalently blunt, my advice would be to not bother with the 3570K at all.
The 2500K oc's so much more easily, and as a result will be faster with a much cheaper
cooler. Or better still, since one doesn't need a mega cooler for SB, just get a 2700K
and have the benefits of HT, run it at 5.0. My used 2700K cost less than a new 3570K.
However, I have a feeling the op has already bought the 3570K.

A cheap standard TRUE will happily run a 2500K at 5.0, and it looks a lot nicer than
most of these newer coolers aswell IMO. That Macho is ugly to my eyes.

> Best thing to do 3570k and 4670k is IHS remove and replace the intel thermalpaste.

Sure, and void the warranty. Not everyone is comfortable doing this kind of mod. It's a
lot more risky than just oc'ing a chip.

Unless one really needs something that IB offers by way of functionality that SB doesn't
have, the 2500K/2600K/2700K are still much more sensible options if one is going to
oc them. It took me just 3 minutes to get my used 2500K running at 4.7. Once I've finished
fiddling I've no doubt it'll be happy at 5.0 just like my 2700K, using a TRUE that cost less
than $25.

Yea, I already bought my 3570k. Since my local dealer is having price cut with most Cooler Master heatsinks, I guess I'll just get a 212x. One last question, Cooler Master Seidon 120V Liquid Cooler price is almost as the same with 212x and Xigmatek Dark Knight. Is it a viable choice? Or just stick to 212x?
