Hey, I'm having a frustrating issue right now. My Ethernet Port on the Motherboard, is no longer working, so I bought a USB 2.0 High-Speed Ethernet Adapter to replace it, and here's the problem. I had Port Forwarded on the old Ethernet Port, but obviously as it's no longer working, I had to now Port Forward on the new USB Ethernet Adapter, but the thing is, I get the message that says that The Static Ip is already assigned to another device(Obviously the old Ethernet Port)and asks me if I'd like to remove the settings from the old Port, so there will be no device conflicts. I say yes. But I lose connection to the Internet, when I do this, and I know that it's because the old settings are not being wiped from the old Port. Can I turn off the signal that goes to the old Ethernet Port, on the Motherboard, to stop this, and will it effect the USB Ethernet Adapter? By the way, because the old Port isn't working, it doesn't show up in Device Manager, or Network and Sharing Center, so I can't uninstall Drivers or anything else for it. So how would I fix this?

I know the Cards are better, but the store was out, lol. The USB Adapter has been working great though, no problems whatsoever... Yet. Fixed the problem, anyway, thanks for the help.

This is a two year old thread. You will get a better response by starting a new conversation with specifics about your situation. Things like the manufacturer of the computer or motherboard and the specific problem you are having.
