Recently I've built a new "gaming" PC.. I intended to start playing some really cool games, like Far Cry 3. I soon realized, I don't have the time anymore to game that I thought I would have :(

I want to know if it's worth selling my PC, and getting a PS4 for casual gaming, and get a decent ultrabook/laptop.

Here are my PC components:
CPU: Intel Core i7-4770k
GPU: Geforce GTX 780
Motherboard: GIGABYTE Z87X-UD3H
RAM: 16GB (2x8) Corsair Veng @ 1600Mhz CL10
SSD: 256GB OCZ Vertex 4
PSU: Corsair 850W
Cooler: Corsair H100i
Case: Corsair Carbide 300R

Total: $1,700 (Plus accessories and dual 24" monitors) came up to about $2,250

From the games I've played, I can play them all on maximum settings.

I've also heard that because of the integration and specific hardware choice in the PS4, it makes games much faster because it is only optimized to be played on the PS4, where as games on PC have to handle hardware more "generically" because there are a wide variety of choices out there for a PC.

I work as a programmer, so I do need some type of laptop if I do decide to sell my PC. I'm pretty sure I can buy a very nice laptop and PS4 within the budget margin I used on my PC. I also will be going back to school this winter, which I may require a laptop for aswell considering it's computer science related courses.

What do you guys suggest? I just want some opinions. Another option could be to wait till the PS4 comes out, but I'm sure my PC would drop in price by the time

Yeah exactly. You'll lose quite a bit of money selling that system that you'll never get back. The sad thing is depreciation sucks, but it's a part of life. Everything depreciates in value except the land beneath your feet. Plus a PS4 =/= a PC, no matter how much the AMD fanboys try to justify it. The quality of visuals you get on a PC are far superior to anything you'll see on any console.
Personally, I can't go back to console gaming. Holding a controller just feels wrong to me. It sounds like you already made up your mind though. Gaming doesn't seem to be a big priority to you and you made it sound like you need a laptop. That said, expect to lose at least $500 by selling your computer.

Well, that sucks... I was expecting to sell it (if I decide to!) for the same amount that I spent on it, considering I see a bunch of computers that have roughly similar (if not, cheaper) components than mines, but are going for around $2,000 - $2,500 Canadian (sold on Kijiji, which is a local online trade/sell site) - and seems like it's ONLY for the PC itself :p
I was planning to sell the PC, dual monitors, keyboard, mouse, and speakers for roughly $2,250. I only built this PC about 2 weeks ago, so I can say that I spent those 2 weeks assembling the PC and doing functional tests.

Sucks that I can never make up my god damn mind on these things.. thanks for the response though!
