Hellllooooo Everyyy oneeee!! :D My very first post in this forum, I am reallyyyy exitedd :bounce:

Here is my (sad) Story :??: I have

Acer Aspire S3
Core i5 (3rd Genereation)
Intel HD 4000
20 GB SSD
500 GB other HDD which people use :ange:

Now the thing is after reading many posts in this forum I reinstalled windows 8 after changing the SATA mode to RAID from BIOS so i can use the software so called "Intel Rapid storage Technology" .

I used this software to enable acceleration by using my 20GB SSD as caching. And you guys are not gonna believe :heink: my laptop was actually accelerated!!! OMG it got so fast that even i was not able to keep up with it :pt1cable: HOWEVER :( after a day or one of my hard disk started making some kind of screeching noise and the system speed started decreasing gradually to a point that it was worse than dual core :kaola:
So i disabled the acceleration from INTEL Rapid blah blah technology.. and found out that the screeches was gone and the system speed was normal again. I am not sure what was the problem but i am dead sure that it had something to do with this caching thingy..

Then I tried using my SSD for Fast wakeup from Hibernation as suggested in many posts.. However after doing i remembered that there was no moment in my life when i ever hibernated my laptop :pfff: What was i thinking ...

Now i am thinking as i can not install windows 8 on such small SSD, I will install a game on it and see if it runs faster or not..Or other applications such as Google chrome, photoshop etc but again before i do that i want to confirm this time first before executing this unreliable plan. So can anyone tell me if it does speed the game or not?

OR if any of you have any good idea what to do with 20 GB SSD of this laptop, Please do share with me i will be reallyyy reallyy thankful to you ... I forgot i am still excited :bounce: thank you mods and admins to allow me to be a part of this wonderrrrful community :D

the only thing the ssd will speed up is the loading of the game,or for that matter, any other program you install on it. as for hibernating or putting computers to sleep,i dont do it.i see way too many threads about machines not coming out of hibernation or other related problems.mines either on or off.cheers.

THANKK youu sir.. I guess i will trying installing my programs on it. Can you also let me know whats up with the weird noises it makes (I am completely talking about my hard disk here  ) Does this means that my HDD has gone bad? Like health wise obviously .. Is there any thing to prevent it going further bad?

HI, you sir are a GENIUSSSS!!! :ouch:

Here are my results (Hope I passed my Final Exams :na: )

And the noise comes from the HDD (Normal one) not the SSD so i am still not sure about what is causing that noise... :pfff:

Furthermore, as i told in my sad painful story that the system got very slow in a day or two to the point that when i was copying small data from C to D drive, i went to the kitchen and made a coffee and came back ... yes you guessed it right it was still not complete :heink: (even though on first day the much larger data was copied in seconds)
Plus there were again those creepy horrifying screeches coming from my HDD i guess.. (No I am sure it was not a fan) The noise was some thing like this (CRICKK..CLIKKK..) Something lke when you start your pc from stand by mode it start making those weird noises.. i am talking about those noises :D

I hope you get my point. So long story short if the hard is working fine everything is fine then what was the problem? :??:

Well, I will say that this is not the first time I've heard this about Hitachi drives. :pfff: If it is really the drive and not a fan, then it sounds like a problem with the motor. It might be perfectly fine mechanically; just annoying. Unfortunately there isn't any software that I know of for testing and reporting back of mechanical health.

According to the SMART report from CrystalDiskInfo, it looks like your drive is fine, magnetically. :)

Hellooo again guys.. Sorry for bothering again :( but this is last time i hope so..

Now what i have done is installed a fresh copy of windows 8.1.. when it asks for creating user and pc name then i went to audit mode and ...... long story short I have my Users folder in my SSD now :D It was a long method but with the help of a tutorial i changed the windows environment to SSD so all the temp data and programs data goes there now automatically when ever i install any program. Plus i have installed all the apps like photoshop, office, chrome, etc in my ssd and when i say that its on fire it is actually ON FIRE!!! :bounce: Now lets see how long it last ..

Can you tell me if i did the right thing? Because its working fine its been a day now ...
